Our name has changed to Kinesiology! (Information taken from the department website May 09, 2006) The UMass Department of Exercise Science was the first of its kind in the country. However, over the past forty years the field has changed considerably. Many of our scholars and researchers now conduct their work in areas that are better defined as the Science of Human Movement. Thus, Kinesiology better denotes the field of study pursued by faculty in our field. Please refer to the Kinesiology Department entry for information on the current program.
