Abstract
In recent years, Denil fishways in which it is said migrating capability is good for longer fishes on steep slope (gradient: 1/6), have been introduced and they have been constructed in various parts. Denil fishways have been constructed for salmons or trouts in Europe and other countries. However, fishways in Japan are almost for Ayu fish. Therefore the authors tried to confirm the function of a Denil fishway for Ayu fish by means of experiments in fields. In conclusion, it is confirmed that Denil fishways are not suitable for Ayu fish or small fishes in compared with pool-and-weir fishways.
