ISSR is based in the College of the Social and Behavioral Sciences. Its mission is to facilitate social science research and methods across the university. By taking guidance from our research faculty's interests and supporting their efforts, the Institute draws its dynamic strengths and directions from the evolving enterprise of contemporary social research. Our goal is to strengthen existing social science infrastructure on campus in order to promote high-quality scholarship. ISSR supports the methods and training needs of faculty and their graduate students, provides grant opportunities and support, and brokers interdisciplinary collaborations both among social scientists and with other scientists on campus. Current services include: Qualitative and quantitative research training opportunities Grant management and support A seed grant mentoring program Workshops and speakers Methods and data analysis consulting services Future expansion plans include: Implementation of an interdisciplinary Social Science Methods Certificate program High-performance computing access and data security services increased number of seed grant programs Development of an Undergraduate Research Assistant program social science software licensing coordination and access data repository services Research incubator function for interdisciplinary research teams visiting scholars and post-docs program Mock proposal review panels Support for interdisciplinary research teams
