The Department of Microbiology offers undergraduates both a major and minor in microbiology. In addition, we offer a Fifth-Year Master's Program, designed exclusively for our undergraduate Microbiology majors. This program is appropriate for academically strong students who are interested in enhancing their academic and research background before entering the professional world.
The Department of Microbiology at UMass Amherst offers programs of graduate study leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in microbiology. We offer an outstanding program of broad training which provides our graduates with the flexibility and depth necessary to compete effectively for research positions in universities, industry and government.
