Philosophy of Perspectives in Asian Leisure and Tourism

Perspectives in Asian Leisure and Tourism seeks to publish original and innovative research in Asian hospitality, tourism and leisure.

The sharing of information is built upon the concept of the free flow of information and open access to published ideas and intellectual expressions.

All authors contributing to this site, and all readers enjoying the fruits of their labors, should respect the integrity of the written word as well as the rights of authorship. Without such respect and open access to ideas, our world would be a poorer place and the human condition not as advanced. Thank you for your support of these ideals.

For more information, please see Perspectives in Asian Leisure and Tourism Aims and Scope page.

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in Perspectives in Asian Leisure and Tourism provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. General Submission Rules

All submissions to PALAT should be prepared in MS Word. This is not an endorsement of a particular product, but an effort to standardize the writing, review and publication process.

Authors should use the APA Style Manual, 5th edition, as a guide to formatting.

There is a difference between personal opinion and scholarly voice. Authors are encouraged to cite the sources of the works of others when building upon those other ideas, or using published works to advance his or her own agenda. Standing upon the shoulders of others as we advance the general body of knowledge is one thing; stealing the work of others is another. Cite your work, please!

Do not overly use direct quotations. Paraphrase the words of others to better demonstrate to readers that you understand those other ideas, and explain how you use them to advance your agenda. Limit the use of direct quotes to those rare occasions when you feel the thought can't be better expressed.

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. In addition, by submitting material to Perspectives in Asian Leisure and Tourism, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at Perspectives in Asian Leisure and Tourism. If you have concerns about the submission terms for Perspectives in Asian Leisure and Tourism, please contact the editors.

It is understood that the current state of technology of Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is such that there are no, and can be no, guarantees that documents in PDF will work perfectly with all possible hardware and software configurations that readers may have.
