2005

The Symposium was held on the Campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 8:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday, April 9, 2005. It was cosponsored by the Physics Department, the Geosciences Department and the Renewable Energy Research Lab at UMass, as well as the Five College Program in Peace and World Securities Studies and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative.

In addition to formal talks and short question and answer periods after each talk, at the end of the program there was an extended period of questions from the audience with answers from the speakers.

A computer survey filled out a month after the Symposium by the attendees indicated a general appreciation of the Symposium, and interest in attending future symposia of this type, as well as a wish to engage in proactive activities associated with energy concerns.
