Introduction
Professor Donson is author of Youth in the Fatherless Land: War Pedagogy, Nationalism, and Authority in Germany, 1914-1918 (Harvard University Press, 2010), which won the Fraenkel Prize in Contemporary History. He is currently writing a cultural history of the 1918/19 German Revolution and preparing projects on communist spies in the 1920s and 1930s and autobiographies of early Nazi Party members. He has a joint appointment in German and Scandinavian Studies.
