Introduction
Joselyn Almeida-Beveridge received her B.A. from Tufts University in English and Classical Studies and a Ph.D. in English from Boston College. Her research and teaching interests include British Romanticism and globalization, transatlantic studies with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean, women and slavery, representations of piracy and mutiny, and Latino Literature.
Her current work examines the cultural and material exchanges between Britain and the non-Anglophone Americas, an area that opens new critical configurations for Romanticists. Her published essays have examined the idea of discovery in the Romantic period, translation and identity in the work of José Blanco White, the Romantic epics of Robert Southey and James Montgomery, and lesser-known figures such as the British Creole poet Robert Dunbar. She is currently at work on a book entitled The Panatlantic: Reading Britain, Africa, and the Americas.
