Abstract
This session will guide participants through a framework for OER creation, from inspiration and intial ideas through distribution to students and OER repositories. The presenter will share the process she developed to create science laboratory manuals. However, this process can easily be applied to projects of any size in any field for individual authors or groups of authors. The session will explain how to build a plan and timeline, tips for finding source material, the importance of feedback on the work and how to obtain feedback, and discuss how to share the work with students electronically and in print. Participants will learn about potential challenges that may occur in the creation process and for students accessing the work, so they can develop solutions to these challenges and incorporate them in the project plan.
