Abstract
This study addresses the underexplored relationship between planned events and crime rates utilizing daily event and crime data. Recognizing the reciprocal impact of crime in the hospitality and tourism sector, particularly within event domains, this research employs a comprehensive methodology. Objectives include analyzing the overall event impact on crime rates, examining sub-groups of planned events, and investigating spatial dynamics concerning the distance from event venues. Leveraging panel design and econometric techniques, the study combines data from PredictHQ and the Los Angeles Police Department. Anticipated findings encompass general event impacts, patterns among distinct event characteristics, and insights into spatial influences. The holistic approach aims to contribute theoretical insights to crime theories in the event domain and practical implications for safety and security measures in event planning and management.
