Brimstone Hill's Last Battle: Preservation and Toursim on St. Kitts' Gibraltar of the West Indies

Abstract
This project would not have been possible without the introduction to St. Kitts by Stephen Ervin and Janet Bebb through their study of the island’s natural resources. I am also grateful for the guidance and encouragement provided by my committee members—John Martin, Hal Mosher, and Bill Randall—who contributed their expertise throughout the process. The people of St. Kitts were consistently friendly and helpful during my many travels around the island. Special thanks go to Lloyd Matheson, President of the Society for the Restoration of Brimstone Hill, for generously sharing his extensive knowledge of the site. Frank and Pat Ervin of the Behavioral Sciences Foundation provided invaluable support by arranging accommodations and offering their years of experience with the island community. Above all, I deeply appreciate my wife, Kristin, whose companionship, support, and artistic talent in illustration were essential to this project. Finally, heartfelt thanks to my sister Tina and her husband Ray, who patiently waited eight hours at JFK airport for our delayed return flight, uncertain whether we had even departed from St. Kitts.
