In Germany nature like fish passes are widely used. Within the new DWA design manual on fish passes we developed a new philosophy for these focusing on high efficiency. In result we suggest the use of advanced / hybrid roughened channels which are optimized for all flow conditions in the river. The presentation will give detailed information on design and hydraulic calculation and will show examples as well.
