Abstract
Two-dimensional numerical model is useful tool in the fishladder design. The flow conditions at the entrance of the fishway can be verified by using the numerical model. In this paper the results of physical and numerical model tests of the pool type fishway are presented and compared. The flow inside the pool is turbulent. Waves and eddies are formed. Numerical model produces similar information on the flow inside the pool than physical one. There are some differences in the results. The reasons are turbulence, transition from supercritical to subcritical flow and three dimensional effects. Those effects can not take into account in this numerical model.
