Abstract
We evaluated the effectiveness ofa fish barrier that was constructed on the Roaring River, a tributary of Cordell Hull Reservoir, Cumberland River, Tennessee. The barrier was a steel-framed, stone-filled structure covered with concrete-capped gabions, and it spanned the width of the stream. We tagged 1,056 specimens of seven rough fish species over three occasions downstream from the barrier, but never recovered any tagged fish upstream from it. The barrier seems to be effective in limiting upstream migration of rough fishes.
