Abstract
This report serves as an initial study of the relationship between an airport and the region in which it is located, with particular focus on the impact an airport can have on a community’s environment. It aims to initiate a dialogue between aviation technology and airport operations, and the future landscape architects and planners who will be responsible for developing regional and local airport systems. The report brings together sufficient facts to present a clear picture of the current airport dilemma and the pressing need for aviation facilities, while also offering an outlook on the expected growth in air traffic over the next ten to twenty years. A primary concern is the identification of major problem areas and the recognition of the need for further preliminary studies, such as this one. Ultimately, this report functions as the foundation and outline for more comprehensive future investigations.
