Earl Lovelace was born in Toco and currently lives and writes in Port-ofSpain, Trinidad. His four novels, collections of plays, numerous short-stories, and journal and newspaper writings have been published in England and America, and translated into French, German. and Swedish. Mr. Lovelace is a past Guggenheim recipient who holds a Master of Arts from the Department of English at The Johns Hopkins University. He currently teaches the Creative Writing Workshop and lectures in the English Department at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
