Abstract
In light of impending climate change impacts in the state of Florida, a timely question appears to be: how resilient is Florida’s hotel industry to climage change impacts? To help answer this question, the proposed study will measure the Proactive phase of Organizational Resilience (OR). In particular, hotel General Managers (GM) will be assessed on their prior knowledge and perceptions of climate change which are postulated as precursors to Natural Disaster Resilience. Study findings will provide insights into GMs knowledge, perceptions and overall preparedness and may shed light on strengths or weaknesses in the Proactive phase and will be used to formulate recommendations. The study will also validate new scales (prior knowledge), and constructs (Political Capital), as well as validate the Natural Disaster Resilience Scale’s applicability to climate change preparedness in a US setting.
