Abstract
This conversational approach explores the transformative impact of Destination Toronto's Relax, Recharge, Renew (RRR) Program, designed by a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) to support caregivers of children with complex needs. Utilizing qualitative research, it emphasizes the program's success in providing respite and fostering community support. While acknowledging its limitations, the positive feedback highlights its effectiveness and broader implications for DMOs globally. The discussion aims to address the larger topic on creating lasting legacy in the community that supports residents and benefits the community. This discussion will urge tourism academics and professionals to consider collaborative efforts to promote inclusivity and challenge social stigmas. Overall, the discussion will advocate for DMOs intentionally contribute to social well-being while engaging diverse resident groups who may often be overlooked in tourism planning. This discussion encourages marking a shift towards community-focused initiatives in the evolving role of DMOs.
