Abstract
The sloping fishways of Tsurugi Intake Weir and of Futsukamachi, which are both located on the upper reaches of Nagara River, were reconstructed. The observation was taken place on these fishways, by placing the fish net. From the observation result it is known that most fishes are using these fishways. The fishway of Tsurugi Intake Weir has boulders and pools. On the other hand, the fishway of Futsukamachi Intake Weir has boulders, and is creating natural riffles. Fishes migrate upstream by going through the end of the stream, where the flow is relatively slow, and they use the pools as a resting place.
