This study examines how popular culture narratives can be integrated into UNESCO World Heritage Sites (WHS) to sustain long-term tourism engagement. Using Old Town Dubrovnik, Croatia—a WHS and the fictional King’s Landing from Game of Thrones—the research explores popular media tourism narratives as gateways of interest to diversify visitors to WHS. Employing think aloud procedures on virtual reality walking tours, the ongoing project investigates how fans engage with Dubrovnik as a site of dual narratives. This research advances understanding of WHS as interwoven cultural spaces, balancing authenticity with diverse visitor interests, and highlights the potential of narrative plurality in heritage tourism.
