Abstract
An automated water quality monitoring and control system, designed for a closed-cycle biofilter research system, used a personal computer as the central processing unit. The system was developed to monitor and control ammonia concentration, pH, temperature, and flow rate. The methods by which certain variables were measured and controlled, the problems encountered, and the accuracies achieved are presented. Potentially, the system can be applied to many water-related operations such as waste treatment and aquaculture.
