Abstract
Delaware River American shad spawning habits and the Delaware Basin geography are reviewed. There are evaluations of field methods, gear, and stations used for shad enumeration. A Delaware River American shad population estimate was calculated for the 1976 spawning run. Relative abundance data are assessed for reliability. Future project plans needed to obtain desired population estimate precision are noted.
