Abstract
It has been found that the Ayu-fries move down the Nagara River and stay at the estuary of the river and the adjacent areas that are deeply influenced by the water from the Nagara River during the autumn and winter. Different stages of the Ayu-fries coexist and grow in a large school, and in spring, they swim up the river from the adjacent areas through the estuary. The areas for the larva culture have been shown to be important for survival and growth of the Ayu-fries.
