Abstract

The fish ladder in Payao was renovated in 1978. Since then, two peaks of fish migration, feeding migration, and spawning migration have been found. Twenty one species of fingerlings passed through the fish ladder during the feeding migration but twelve species could not pass the fish ladder. During the spawning migration, twenty-nine fish with fully developed gonads passed the fish ladder and only four species could not pass the ladder. The fish ladder in Pak-mun was constructed in 1994 under the recommendation of the Department of Fisheries of Thailand together with the support of the World Bank. Fish migration data shows that 36 species of fish and 2 species of freshwater prawn could pass the ladder.
