Abstract
This paper describes the construction of a prototypic floating louver fish screen. Tests indicate that the screen is hydraulically stable in water velocities up to 1.0 mls and has a guidance efficiency of between 50 and 100% for Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) smolts. The mean guiding efficiency over the test period was 87%. No statistical differences in guidance efficiency were detected between 1.2, 1.8 and 2.4 m louver submergence depths.
