Abstract

Fluctuations in year-class strength (1979 to 1984) for both rainbow and brown trout were strongly correlated to spring and summer discharge levels. In years when springtime discharge exceeded 800 cfs, year-class strength was very poor. Depths and velocities associated with high runoff flows can greatly reduce available fry habitat.
