Abstract

Summer and winter races of steelhead Salmo gairdneri were tagged in the Kalama River, Washington, during spawning migrations of 1976–1982. Some marked fish returned to the tagging site during spawning runs 1–2 years later. Using 2-week sampling strata, the date of subsequent return was significantly related to the prior time of tagging for both races. Individual spawners migrate at similar times from one return to the next.
