Abstract
The Rehabilitation of the Diversion Headworks on the Oldman River is part of the improvement and expansion of the 60 year old Lethbridge Northern Irrigation District (LNID) water supply gravity system. Demand for increased capacity of the conveyance system, maintenance and operational problems experienced over the years and compliance with the Water Resources Act and Alberta Fish and Wildlife, are the factors which determined the new functional requirements of the Diversion Headworks. The works described in this paper involve the demolition and reconstruction of the Headgates and Sluicegate structures, the incorporation of a Fishway and Riparian Outlet works and the refurbishing of the existing concrete weir and footbridge.
