Title

A Field Test of Electrical Guiding and Louver Deflection Combined into a Single Guiding System

Summary

Many techniques for deflecting or guiding downstream migrant salmonids have been tried and a wide range of results has been obtained. AMong the techniques that have had some success are electrical guiding and deflection with louvers. Both systems have disadvantages which tend to limit their range of application. The objective of the research presented in this paper was to determine if the fish-guiding efficiency of a louver system with widely spaced louver slats could be materially increased by applying electrical energy so that the louver slats could function as electrodes in an electrical array.
