From foreword: The Sixth Progress Report summarizes the research conducted during the years 1979 through 1983 under the Corps of Engineers North Pacific Division Fish Passage Development and Evaluation Program. The present program of research and project modification is to help ensure the the maximum capability of the joint hydrothermal system is realized consistent with perpetuation of the fish and wildlife resources of the basin. It is a part of the broad effort by the Federal and state agencies and other private and public water development organizations to maintain the valuable anadromous fish resources and fisheries of the Pacific Northwest and protect the substantial investments in installed fish facilities. The enclosed research summaries reflect the scope of that activity.
