Abstract
Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is introduced in this study as an extension of Total Quality Management (TQM). This paper demonstrates how the hospitality programs in higher education can apply the service-based quality function deployment (QFD) methodology to determine and assess the quality of learning outcomes of undergraduate hospitality study abroad programs in the United States (US). Through personal interviews of department administrators and hoteliers, this study identifies the unique expectations of professionals in the lodging industry and their satisfaction with current hospitality study abroad programs in the US. Suggestions and directions for future research are offered with emphasis on the collaborative relationship between hospitality programs and industries.
