O povo guató ocupa duas terras indígenas no Brasil, uma em Mato Grosso e outra em Mato Grosso do Sul. A língua guató, criticamente ameaçada, conta com apenas dois falantes fluentes. Os dois não mantêm contato entre si e tampouco se relacionam cotidianamente com uma comunidade guató. Nesse cenário, a retomada da língua ancestral tem preocupado as lideranças de ambas as comunidades guató. No entanto, as diferenças na formação das duas terras indígenas contribuíram para que seus moradores tenham experiências bastante distintas com o guató. Neste artigo, procuramos discutir as atividades de manutenção e revitalização da língua guató nas duas terras indígenas à luz de conceitos do planejamento linguístico. Descrevemos essas atividades, visando a classificá-las em três grandes áreas de ação: planejamento de status, planejamento de corpus e planejamento de aquisição.

The Guató people inhabit two indigenous lands in Brazil: one in the state of Mato Grosso and the other in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The Guató language is critically endangered and has only two fluent speakers. The two speakers have no relationship with each other and are not in touch with other Guató. Given this scenario, the leaders of both Guató communities have been concerned with reclaiming the ancestral language. However, differences in how the two indigenous lands were formed have resulted in quite different experiences with the Guató language for the inhabitants. In this paper, we discuss maintenance and revitalization activities for the Guató language in the two indigenous lands considering concepts for language planning. We describe these activities, classifying them into three broad fields of action: status planning, corpus planning, and acquisition planning.
