Inspired by this year's keynote co-speakers, Thomas P Mackey and Trudi E. Jacobson, and their article, “Reframing Information Literacy as a Metaliteracy” (http://crl.acrl.org/content/72/1/62.full.pdf+html) and particularly by the following quotation from that article:
Rather than separate information literacy from other forms of literacy, we argue that a comprehensive understanding of information and related competencies are central to these literacy concepts. This approach is grounded in the idea that emerging technologies are inherently different from print and require active engagement with multiple information formats through different media modalities” (68).
This year’s program shared and explored the many literacies we encounter in our work, be they face-to-face, collaborative or virtual.
