Food safety is a critical issue facing the United States. Providing food safety training to a diverse workforce is a critical challenge facing the foodservice industry and finding innovative ways to conduct food safety training is necessary. This study utilized minimal-text visuals in Spanish to train Hispanic foodservice workers about proper handwashing technique and glove use according to the 2005 Food Code guidelines. Results showed that training using visuals impacted participant knowledge about proper handwashing and proper glove use as evidenced by increased knowledge scores. Using visuals can be helpful in reaching an audience whose native language is not English.
