Exploratory factor analysis extracted six leadership competency components. The findings showed that team building and ethics, leadership skills, and communication skills were the most important leadership competencies. In contrast, flexibility and strategic orientation were the least important leadership competencies for hotel general managers. There were significant differences between leadership competencies necessary for success versus hotel general managers’ age and education.
