Description
National research has demonstrated that integrating student support services into first-year seminars positively effects new student retention and success. This session will highlight the Bunker Hill Community College Learning Community Seminar, a thematic, 3-credit, college-level course featuring three levels of integrated student support services: faculty advising, success coaching and peer mentoring. The model serves as a framework for supporting new students as they transition to college. Participants will engage in an interactive discussion, where they will brainstorm ways to apply best practices in peer mentoring and success coaching to common challenges faced by first year students.
