Abstract
mien, during the years 1861-64, Thomas Uraham distinguished between the crystalloidal and the colloidal state of matter, an impetus, the full weight of shich has not been realixed until the present century, was given to extensive investigation. These investigations have resulted in a better understanding of the phenomena exhibited by matter in the colloidal state, and we already enjoy aany of the material advantages to be derived from such knowledge.
