Research on the Development Efficiency of Tourism in the Yangtze River Economic Zone: An Empirical Study Based on DEA Model

The Yangtze River Economic Zone is a national river economic zone developed by Chinese government to promote economic transformation and the implementation of regional development, which plays a high strategic role. This thesis constructs the tourism industry development efficiency evaluation index system and analyzes the tourism industry development efficiency in Yangtze River Economic Zone by establishing DEA model. The thesis analyzes the development characteristics of the tourism industry in Yangtze River Economic Zone in order to evaluate the Yangtze River tourism construction level and put forward some valuable suggestions. The results of this thesis are shown as following. First, the tourism efficiency of the provinces and cities along the Yangtze River economic zone has mainly experienced four stages, which is characterized by low efficiency, fluctuating growth, slow maturity and innovation development. Second, this thesis divides the provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Zone into four types according to the efficiency of tourism. The important implications for them on promoting tourism industry are further discussed.
