Dr. Arash Akhshik

Dr. Akhshik, is a researcher at the Institute of Environmental Science, Jagiellonian University in Poland and visiting scholar at Linnaeus University in Sweden. His research cross cuts socio-ecological systems related to leisure activities, specifically, he is interested in the creation of experiences that provoke a profound self-change in nature-based visitors.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Marianna Strzelecka ( Linnaeus University in Sweden)

Dr. Strzelecka received her doctoral training at University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, she is an interdisciplinary scholar engaging theories and methods from environmental sociology, community psychology (i.e. tailored survey method), and political sciences. She has published on concepts like place attachment, emotional solidarity and resident empowerment and environmental justice. The main center of research activity is LNU, which is a growing research context for projects focused on social-environmental issues and for the communication of the project results. Dr. Strzelecka has extensive experience in coordinating large-scale projects funded by national agencies and engaging multiple scholars in the process.

Assistant Prof. Dr Joanna Tusznio – (Jagiellonian University)

Dr. Tusznio is environmental sociologist who has most recently studied human-nature relations through the lens of rewilding and Bison reintroduction projects in Poland.

her expertise in sociological aspects of the environment and protected areas will be employed during design and implementation of the research



Prof. dr hab Małgorzata Grodzińska-Jurczak (Jagiellonian University)

Professor of biology currently works on the social determinants of nature protection, science communication and citizen science. She broadly publishes, teaches in and outside university as well as popularizes results of her studies. An important perspective of her work is popularising environment-related knowledge.

Rivers build societal foundations by connecting people, and places, inspiring various outdoor activities. In this study, We employed sentiment analysis of user generated contents of Instagram to better understand patterns of visits and sentiment expressed in the textual data before and during Covid-19 pandemic in Poland. The results of this study, assist in the articulation of patterns and moods proximate to the river, provides unprecedented practical insight, and illuminate path for further research.
