Description

In Germany nature like fish passes are widely used. Within the new DWA design manual on fish passes we developed a new philosophy for these focusing on high efficiency. In result we suggest the use of advanced / hybrid roughened channels which are optimized for all flow conditions in the river. The presentation will give detailed information on design and hydraulic calculation and will show examples as well. Working as civil engineer and directing manager of Floecksmuehle consultants who are working as designers and experts for up-and downstream migration facilities, fish protection system and hydro power station. Member of the German committee on fish passes and fish protection systems (DWA). Scientific work on fish migration and passability of rivers. Adviser for state and federal government.
