Order unit intervals in unigroups

Nathan Rodney Ritter, University of Massachusetts Amherst

Abstract

In this thesis, we investigate some properties of unigroups. In particular, we investigate certain properties of the unit interval in such groups and how they can be translated to other intervals in the group and to the group itself. The result is to illuminate further the connection between effect algebras and partially ordered abelian groups that was first demonstrated by Professors M. K. Bennett and D. Foulis.
