Title

Light propagation in cholesteric liquid crystals: the role of chirality

Publication Date

2021

Abstract

Cholesteric liquid crystals are tunable self-assembled photonic bandgap materials. Because of their unusual properties and potential for applications in photonics, their optical properties have received considerable attention. Models describing light propagation in cholesterics typically focus primarily on their structure and anisotropy. Here we focus on the chirality of the constituents, and discuss its consequences on optical and dielectric properties other than material structure.
