The 2022 Open Access Week theme is "Open for Climate Justice" to be celebrated internationally October 24th-30th. Tackling the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries. Open access facilitates that critical exchange of knowledge.

The UMass Amherst Libraries will sponsor several events, including:

  • Monday, October 24th at 4:00 p.m., “Open to Change: Possibilities and Probabilities” virtual keynote by Micah Vandegrift.
  • Tuesday, October 25th at noon, Library Workshop Series “Tools for Managing Your Scholarly Identity: Building and Managing Your ORCiD profile”
  • Wednesday, October 26th at 11:15 a.m. in the Old Chapel, author talk on Janice Irvine’s book “Marginal People in Deviant Places.” The Libraries are co-sponsoring this event to celebrate the open access publication of Professor Irvine’s book with partial funding provided by the SOAR Fund.
  • Wednesday, October 26th at 3:00 p.m., Library Workshop Series “Open Access, Peer Review and Predatory Publishing: Can You Have the First Two Without the Third?”
  • Thursday, October 27th at noon in the SEL Learning Studio, “Open for Climate Justice: a panel discussion” with UMass Scholars Kiran Asher, Justin Richardson and Craig Nicolson.
