Possible utilization of tourism statistics and big data for regional tourism organizations in Japan: Quantification of effect of Snow Festival in Sapporo, Hokkaido
Abstract (150 Words)
In this research, we examined possible integration between Accommodation Travel Survey and Mobile Space Statistics to quantitatively grasp the effect of Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan with consideration of both characteristics. We confirmed that the effect of the snow festival on the increase in the number of staying foreigners visited Japan may only be expressed in the suburbs of Sapporo City and Tomakomai City. It was confirmed that the increase in the number of guests and the number of visitors during the snow festival period varies depending on nationality and facility characteristics. It is necessary to carefully estimate the increase rate considering the influence of concealment processing of mobile spatial statistics and the influence of facility capacity restriction including Japanese lodging demand.
