She is now working towards the completion of Ph.D. degree with a focus on destination planning and community resilience. She had participated in a number of projects for destination development plan and facility management in China and the United States. | dc.description.abstract | This study examines the evolution of rural home sharing businesses and relevant laws and regulations. Rural tourism and home sharing businesses have emerged since the 1970s and have developed through four stages under the supervision of general property laws and tax regulations. The current expansion of home sharing in rural area has incurred different problems compared with the problems in urban expansion, and pertinent regulations and policies are lacking. In rural economies, planners should eliminate the negative externalities of home sharing and be aware of what they might lose in exchange for social or economic capital. Finally, based on the analysis of home sharing businesses and community resilience, suggestions were made for policy makers to better strategize how to administer business for community resilience. | |
